Officials reported the arrest of a suspected mastermind and a teenager connected to the attack. Investigations unveiled that the group behind the planned assault had engaged in disseminating hate speech, particularly against children, adolescents, and the LGBTQIA+ community. The main suspect was apprehended in the southern Rio Grande do Sul state for illegal firearm possession, while the teenager was taken into custody for holding child pornography in Rio.
In addition to the heinous plans to create violence, the suspects were allegedly involved in radicalizing youth, promoting self-harm and violent behaviors as a means of asserting identity among young individuals.
