The bodies of 1,000 Ukrainian soldiers have been returned by Russia, Kyiv has announced, in the latest exchange between the warring countries. In this exchange, Russia received 38 bodies in return, as confirmed by Moscow's chief negotiator, Vladimir Medinsky, who shared an image on Telegram showing the logistics of the transfer. The exchange was part of an agreement reached during negotiations in Istanbul last year, which aimed to outline the return of a total of 12,000 soldiers along with all severely wounded prisoners of war and those aged under 25. Previous swaps have seen thousands of soldiers' remains interchanged amid ongoing conflict. The latest exchange took place while peace talks continue at various levels, including a groundbreaking trilateral meeting involving negotiators from Russia, Ukraine, and the United States. Meanwhile, both sides remain engaged in military actions, with recent drone strikes resulting in civilian casualties in Ukraine, underscoring the challenging environment ahead as February marks the fourth anniversary of Russia's escalation of military actions in Ukraine.
